Coding agent (CLI) · Stencil Labs
Oh My Pi
Fork of pi extended into a batteries-included coding agent: LSP and debugger tools, parallel subagents in isolated worktrees, Zed/ACP support, live-session sharing, and per-role model routing.
Oh My Pi review
Oh My Pi, run as `omp`, is a terminal coding agent from Stencil Labs. It is free and open source under the MIT licence. Its README calls it a fork of pi-mono by Mario Zechner. We read the vendor's pages and repository in October 2026. We did not run an independent test.
Who it is for
Developers who want a pi-style terminal agent with LSP, debugging and subagent orchestration already included. It is not aimed at people who want a minimal agent.
What stands out
For models, you can use API keys, provider logins, coding-plan subscriptions or local servers such as Ollama, LM Studio, llama.cpp and vLLM. The docs list more than 60 providers and per-role model routing.
The agent ships LSP, debugger (DAP) and AST edit tools. Subagents can run in isolated worktrees and return schema-validated results. A headless `-p` print mode, a JSON event stream, RPC and ACP server modes cover scripting and editors. The `/collab` command shares a live session through a relay, with a join link that is read-only or read-write.
Price and licence
omp is free. The omp.sh structured data lists a price of 0 USD, and there is no separate pricing page. The licence is MIT, so it is open source. Model cost comes from the provider you connect.
Where it falls short
- The default approval mode is yolo, so tool calls run without prompts unless you change it. No OS-level sandbox is documented.
- The surface is large, with 31 tools and many setting-gated features. Releases are fast; v18 is already out.
- Opening a repo loads its project settings, extensions, hooks and MCP config by design, which widens the trust surface.
- Pull requests are open only as a temporary trial, and the maintainers say the vouch requirement may return.
Alternatives
For the smaller upstream, read about pi. For more choices, see terminal coding agents. OpenCode is another open-source agent.
Facts: platforms, price and licence
- platforms
- macOSLinuxWindowsCommand is `omp`. README lists macOS, Linux and Windows with bun >= 1.3.14 for the bun install path; the install script otherwise downloads a prebuilt binary. Alpine/musl needs libstdc++ and libgcc installed first.
- price
- Freeomp is free (MIT; omp.sh structured data lists price 0 USD, seen 2026-10-28). Model cost comes from the provider you connect: API keys, provider OAuth logins, coding-plan subscriptions, or local servers such as Ollama, LM Studio, llama.cpp and vLLM.

Oh My Pi strengths
- Built-in LSP, debugger (DAP) and AST edit tools, with subagents that can run in isolated worktrees and return schema-validated results.
- Headless `-p` print mode, JSON event stream, RPC and ACP server modes for scripting and editor integration.
- Four approval modes (always-ask, always-ask-cached, write, yolo) and imports rules, skills and MCP servers from Cursor, Claude, Codex and other tool configs.
- /collab shares a live session through a relay with a join link, read-only or read-write.
Oh My Pi weak points
- Default approval mode is yolo, so tool calls run without prompts unless you change it; no OS-level sandbox is documented.
- Large surface area (31 tools, many setting-gated features) and a fast release cadence (v18 already), so behaviour changes often.
- Opening a repo loads its project settings, extensions, hooks and MCP config by design, which widens the trust surface.
- Pull requests are open only as a temporary trial and the maintainers say the vouch requirement may return.
Who Oh My Pi is for
- best for
- Developers who want a pi-style terminal agent with LSP, debugging and subagent orchestration already included.
- look elsewhere if
- Users who want a minimal agent or a default-deny permission model out of the box.

Not verified
- sandbox: only approval tiers and worktree/filesystem isolation for subagents seen; no OS-level command sandbox documented (null)
- ssh: README mentions ssh:// remote paths for the read tool and PTY for ssh prompts, not running the agent on a remote host; left null
- relationship to pi: README says 'fork of pi-mono by Mario Zechner' (pi-mono now lives at earendil-works/pi); GitHub itself reports fork=false (detached repo)
- no separate pricing page (omp.sh/pricing returns 404)
