How we collect and rate
Every entry in the SSH client, terminal emulator and mobile lists is built from the vendor's own pages: home page, pricing page, documentation, download page and, for open-source tools, the repository. Each entry lists its sources at the bottom so you can check the claim yourself.
What we record
- Platforms that have an official build. A community port does not count.
- Price exactly as the pricing page states it on the date we looked. Prices change; the date is on every page.
- Open-source status and licence, from the repository or the vendor's licence page.
- A fixed set of features (SSH, SFTP, tabs, split panes, port forwarding, jump host, X11, serial, telnet, mosh, cloud sync, team sharing, scripting, AI agent support, mobile app).
- Strengths and weaknesses written in our own words and limited to things a source supports.
What the symbols mean
✓ the vendor documents it. – the vendor documents that it is absent, or a source shows the product has no such feature. ? we could not confirm it either way. A question mark is not a "no". We would rather show ? than guess.
No scores, no stars
We do not give a numeric score or star rating. A single number would hide the trade-offs that matter: a tool with no mobile app can still be the right pick on a desktop. Instead each entry says who it is best for and who should look elsewhere.
The site owner's product
This site is run by the makers of MXterm Pro. To keep that honest:
- MXterm is pinned to the top of lists where it belongs and is labelled made by us every time.
- Its entry has weaknesses listed, using the same format as every other tool.
- Comparison pages show where the other tool is stronger. Where we have not verified a feature of MXterm, it shows ? like any other.
- Apart from the pinned position, lists are alphabetical. We do not rank competitors against each other.
AI coding agent workspaces
The agent workspace table is built from the public list at agentmgmt.dev by Manuel, an independent guide to coding agent orchestrators. We take the facts it records (name, link, operating systems, price tier, open-source flag, approximate GitHub stars) and add our own tags. We have not tested these tools one by one and do not review them. Star counts are rounded and were copied on the date shown on the page.
Corrections
If a price, platform or feature is wrong, write to [email protected] with the page URL and a source. We fix factual errors and show the date of the check.
