Ekko Studio
Desktop app and self-hosted web console that runs Hermes Agent, a built-in Ekko agent and 14 coding-agent CLIs in chats, group chats and visual workflows, with Kanban, scheduled jobs and a companion mobile app.
Ekko Studio review
Ekko Studio, formerly Hermes Studio, is a desktop app and self-hosted web console that runs Hermes Agent, its own agent and 14 coding-agent CLIs. It is on macOS, Windows, Linux and the web, under the source-available BSL-1.1 licence. We read the vendor's GitHub pages in October 2026. We did not run an independent test.
Who it is for
Individuals and teams doing non-commercial work who want one self-hostable console for many coding-agent CLIs.
What stands out
The README lists Claude Code, Codex, Pi, Grok, OpenCode, Qwen Code, Kimi Code, GitHub Copilot CLI, Cursor, Antigravity and others. An Agent Manager handles installation, settings and updates for most of them. The CLIs must be installed on the machine that hosts the backend.
Visual workflows connect agents with schedules, approval gates and group-chat rooms. A Kanban board tracks agent tasks, and cron jobs are supported. Ten chat platforms, including Telegram, Discord and Slack, can be configured. Managed MCP servers expose API, browser and device toolsets.
A companion mobile App can follow single chats, group chats and workflows over a LAN or a relay. It can also share a conversation with set permissions and open persistent terminals. The README gives no App name or store link.
Distribution is a desktop installer, an npm package or a Docker image. The latest GitHub release was v0.7.39 on 23 October 2026. The repository showed 11,594 stars on 29 October 2026.
Price and licence
No price is stated. The BSL-1.1 licence allows non-commercial use, including personal use, education and research. Commercial use needs a separate licence from the vendor. It converts to Apache-2.0 on 2029-05-10.
Where it falls short
- BSL-1.1 is not an open-source licence, and no commercial price was found.
- The project was renamed, so older package names and commands still appear.
- We found no git worktree feature.
- The official website loads only through JavaScript, so we relied on the README.
- Cursor and Antigravity require manual installation.
