Agent workspace · Codeg (spacering-net)
Codeg
Workspace that runs about twenty coding agents over the Agent Client Protocol in one chat interface, imports their session history, lets a lead agent hand work to others, and runs from desktop, a self-hosted server, Docker or a phone client.
Codeg review
Codeg is a workspace that puts about twenty coding agents behind one chat interface, imports their session history and lets one agent hand work to another. We read the vendor's site and GitHub pages in October 2026. We did not run an independent test.
Who it is for
Developers who use several agent CLIs and want one self-hostable, Apache-licensed app.
What stands out
Codeg talks to agents over the Agent Client Protocol. Around twenty are built in, and any other ACP agent can be added. Sessions stored by each agent can be imported and resumed.
A lead agent can delegate a task to another agent, which runs as its own live session. Delegation is off by default, and the depth limit starts at 1 and can be raised to 8. Scheduled to-dos run in isolated git worktrees, and worktrees can also be made from the branch menu.
The same app comes as desktop installers for macOS, Windows and Linux, as a headless server or Docker image used from a browser, and as iOS and Android clients. A command-line tool, codeg-cli, runs prompts from scripts or CI. Version 0.40.0 came out on 24 October 2026.
Where it falls short
- Delegated sub-agents share the lead's folder and do not get their own worktree automatically.
- The mobile apps are labelled a test release. The iOS app needs iOS 26 or later, and Android is an APK from GitHub rather than a store listing. Both only connect to a Codeg host you run.
- Codeg is not an MCP client itself. It manages MCP settings for the agents. SSH, SFTP and port forwarding are not documented.
- The repository moved from a personal GitHub account to a new organisation, spacering-net, created in October 2026. The README sponsor list consists of AI API relay and reseller services with referral links.
Price
The docs and README state no price and no paid plan. The code is Apache-2.0, and the iOS client is listed as free. Seen 28 October 2026.
Verdict
Choose it if you use several agent CLIs and want one Apache-licensed interface you can host yourself. Look elsewhere if you need an SSH or SFTP client, or a separate worktree for every delegated task.
Facts: platforms, price and licence
- platforms
- macOSWindowsLinuxiOSAndroidWebDesktop installers: macOS Apple Silicon and Intel (.dmg), Windows 10/11 x64 and Arm64, Linux x64 AppImage/.deb/.rpm and arm64 .deb/.rpm. Web = self-hosted codeg-server or Docker image opened in a browser. iOS and Android apps are clients for your own desktop or server, labelled a test release; iOS needs iOS/iPadOS 26+, Android is an APK from GitHub (Android 12+), not a store listing. Mobile client v1.0.1.
- price
- FreeDocs site and README state no price and no paid plan; code is Apache-2.0 and the iOS client is listed Free on the App Store (seen 2026-10-28). No explicit 'free' statement on the docs site itself.

Codeg strengths
- Talks to agents over ACP, so any ACP-compatible agent can be added besides the roughly twenty built in; sessions kept on disk by each agent can be imported, searched and resumed.
- Delegation lets a lead agent hand tasks to other agents as separate live sessions; depth defaults to 1 and can be raised to 8.
- Same app ships as desktop installers, a headless server with Docker image, and iOS and Android clients; also a codeg-cli for scripts and CI, and scheduled automations.
- Worktrees are created from the branch menu; scheduled to-dos run in isolated worktrees; Apache-2.0 licence.
Codeg weak points
- Delegated sub-agents share the lead's folder and do not get their own git worktree automatically (docs); delegation is off by default and docs call it a poor fit for parallel edits to the same files.
- Mobile apps are described as a test release; iOS needs iOS 26 or later and Android is an APK from GitHub, not a store listing; both only connect to a Codeg host you run.
- Codeg itself is not an MCP client (docs: MCP is the agent's feature); it manages MCP config for agents and attaches a companion server for delegation. SSH client features are not documented.
- Project moved from a personal GitHub account to a new organisation in October 2026 (org created 2026-10-05); iOS publisher is still an individual; the README sponsor list is made up of AI API relay and reseller services with referral links.
Who Codeg is for
- best for
- Developers who use several agent CLIs and want one self-hostable, Apache-licensed interface with searchable session history and agent-to-agent delegation.
- look elsewhere if
- Anyone who needs a classic SSH/SFTP client or hard per-agent worktree isolation for every delegated task.

Not verified
- ssh, sftp, port_forwarding, jump_host, x11_forwarding, serial, telnet, mosh: not described in the docs pages read (docs mention only attaching a desktop to a remote codeg-server)
- cloud_sync: README mentions configuration sync between machines through a file or your own WebDAV server; not a vendor cloud, so left null
- team_sharing: not mentioned
- price: no explicit price statement on docs site; 'free' inferred from Apache-2.0 licence and Free iOS listing
- number of built-in agents: README says twenty, delegation docs page says nineteen
- relationship between the new spacering-net org, the xintaofei account and the iOS publisher (Tao Fei) is not stated
- macOS minimum version not listed; Android APK repo is xintaofei/codeg-android (Apache-2.0 per API), not checked for contents
